HOW DOES IT WORK?

Monitor your home by phone, text or email
BT Home Monitoring is a complete home protection system that links high quality security hardware with an intelligent monitoring service, via your telephone line.

Its easy to install yourself; all you need is a power supply and active phone line. Once it's installed, you must register your system online to create your personal homepage. This homepage lets you manage your system preferences, and remotely monitor your home.

Real time alert
If an event is detected by the sensors in your home, your BT Home Monitor will contact you, telling you exactly what has happened.

When triggered, the BT Home Monitoring system calls the monitored property first, to guard against false alarms. If you switch off the system at this time using your PIN, no further action is taken.

If no one responds to this call, the system starts sending alerts by a combination of fixed line phone, text message and/or email to your chosen contacts. You can choose up to 3 contacts to receive alerts, these can be family, friends or neighbours.

Each alert contains details of the event and a unique code. If the first contact doesn't respond, the second receives the alert, and so on. Any contact can respond to the alarm at any time, thereby halting the process. The alert sequence stops after the third contact is notified.

The information in the alert lets you make an informed choice about what action to take.

System security
BT Home Monitoring has system safeguard mechanisms in place at each point in the monitoring process. The Internet monitoring service and the web page where you manage your account are hosted separately to ensure that your home is always protected, even if we have to undertake routine site maintenance. Your personal homepage is securely password-protected and the link between your computer and the control centre is secured by a proven technology called SSL (Secure Socket Layering).

Maintenance
The BT Home Monitor VP1000 needs little routine maintenance. The control panel constantly checks its systems, sensors, and the telephone line for problems. If it finds one - e.g. a low battery in a sensor - its shown on the control panel display, your personal online account is updated and an alert is sent to the first contact.

Alarm monitoring is a more effective way to protect your home, possessions and family. If movement is detected when your alarm system is armed, BTs monitoring service automatically calls your home to check for false alarms. If it is not a false alarm, alert messages are sent to you and 2 other people to inform them of the problem. This unique service alerts you to the threat so you can decide on the most appropiate action.

Alert messages are sent by phone, SMS text message and email. You control who receives these messages. BT also monitor for panic attack, triggered by using the panel or keyfob within your home.

EXPAND YOUR SYSTEM

The BT VP1000 Alarm starter kit is designed for small to medium sized homes, however the system can be expanded by adding up to to a total of 28 different sensors to suit your properties requirements. A combination of movement, smoke, flood detectors and door and window contacts can be added to the system. Simply select from the drop down list opposite and add to your basket additional accessories that you require.

Don't feel confident? Full self-installation instructions are provided in your kit. However if you do not feel confident, IViewCameras have a network of trained engineers to fit it for you from just £99.

An engineer will contact you within 48 hours of you placing your order to arrange a convenient time to attend your home. The engineer will fit your alarm sytem and all your sensors in place and connect it to your power and telephone systems. They will ensure all hardware is installed and operational. All you need do is complete your monitoring service registration via the telephone or online.
